Brazosport Plastics was formed in 1969 to fabricate fiberglass composites. Since then it has developed into a company still doing fiberglass, but also a waterjet cutting service. In addition, we have mechanical engineers, one electrical engineer, and one PHD chemist on staff who work on special design and development projects. We are located about forty miles south of Houston.
FIBERGLASS COMPOSITES
Brazosport Plastics is a fiberglass composites fabricator primarily for the chemical and marine industry where corrosion is of primary concern. Products supplied include pipe and fittings, custom valves, tanks, and many special design products. We can supply both 100% fiberglass fabrications and also dual-laminate products. Dual laminates typically have a special liner in contact with the process fluid and fiberglass on the outside to give strength. Dual laminates are used in special cases where even fiberglass will not withstand the corrosive products. The contact laminate is typically PVC, CPVC, KYNAR, or TEFLON. In most cases we work with an associate, Scientific Glass and Plastic, to supply dual laminates. They do the contact laminate fabrication and Brazosport Plastics does the fiberglass overlay.
Brazosport Plastics is proficient in the use of vinyl ester resins ( typically Dow`s DERAKANE resins ) and polyester resins. ASTM standards and Dow Chemical`s extensive fiberglass standards are strictly adhered to.
